The new GoPro HERO4 Session launched today as a much smaller, more aero version of the standard HERO4 videocamera.
The HERO4 Session is waterproof without the need for separate housing and has a simpler, one-button operation. Pressing the button quickly turns the unit on and begins recording automatically.
HERO4 Session works with existing GoPro mounts and will retail for US$399 / £329 beginning July 12.
GoPro claims the Session to be 40% lighter than previous models, but did not specify a weight.
âWith HERO4 Session, we challenged ourselves to produce the smallest, lightest, most convenient GoPro possible,â GoPro founder and CEO Nicholas Woodman said in a press release. âHERO4 Session combines the best of our engineering and user-experience know-how to deliver our most convenient life-capture solution, yet.â
HERO4 Session recrods in 1080p60, 720p100 and 1440p30 video along with 8MP photos in Single, Burst and Time Lapse modes.
