SRAM’s latest X-series crankset makes its X-Sync chain security technology affordable. You get hollow forged alloy arms, a spline mounted 94mm BCD spider and an X-Sync chainring, with the whole lot only coming in 44g heavier than the pricier X01 carbon cranks.
The X-Sync teeth use a more complicated design than most narrow-wide alternatives, and performance is noticeably smoother and quieter as a result. You can retrofit twin- or triple-ring spiders if going single doesn’t work out. Remember to factor a GXP BB into the cost.
